I don't find a reference to a Cornelius tree but there is a cornelian cherry in the dogwood family. Trees emit varying types of sap, some are water permeable and some are not. If you are trying to remove sap from a car, for example, try soaking a towel with water and leaving on the spot till the sap softens.
