If I break a branch from my Leyland tree and plant it into the ground will it reroute and grow again?

The bigger the branch, the less likely it will be to take root. With trees such as this it can take months to grow roots. It is best to use a rooting hormone, and keep the branch in a moist ,but not sopping wet, environment.
