transplanting an old dogwood

Can I transplant (move) my 10 to 20 year old dogwood. When would be the best time to move it to try not to kill it and are there any steps I could take to prevent harming it?

First, this is a rather old tree, which could make it a bit more difficult to transplant successfully, especially if it’s quite large. Nonetheless, it is still possible to move the tree and I would suggest doing so in fall (or spring if you’re prone to severe winters). This article should help with transplanting and preventing shock: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/environmental/learn-how-to-avoid-and-repair-transplant-shock-in-plants.htm [2]
