Tomatoes Ae Red, But Hard

I am in Southern California. My tomatoes are getting red on the vine and the temps. have been in the 70-75 degree range but the tomatoes I have picked, while completely red, are hard and when cut and eaten are not as flavorful as they should be. Do you know why? Do you know how to fix the problem? Thank you.
