Starting kiwi plants from cuttings

I’ve started some kiwi branches, both male and female, in a potting mix. The male branches leafed out first but after a few weeks the leaves are fainting and some are dying. They’ve been in a sunny room inside the whole time and I’ve kept them moist but trying not to over water them. What’s going wrong? Do I need to move them outside? Not water them as much? Thanks for your help!
