starting a cutting of schlefflera plant

Which way do you cut the leaf to make it a Horizontal cut in the instructions above? Do you cut it across the middle or do you cut it down the middle from the tip back to the base of the leaf?

Normally you cut the tip, or top half, of the leaf off. In this case, it is not necessary. You can still do this, but schefflera are super easy to root. I have, many times, just stuck a branch tip that has broken off into the soil, only to find a week later it is rooted with no help from me whatsoever.
