Yes, it could. Squash plants require lots of room to grow, especially in containers. Planted with the hibiscus, your squash is continually having to compete for space, water, and nutrients. I would consider separating the two when feasible and repotting or replanting separately elsewhere. You can try transplanting the squash now, but it may die from transplant shock.
