Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comWe planted a bird of paradise many years ago behind our pool screen in Orlando, FL. It has grown and spread tremendously. The new neighbor behind us says it spread through some shrubs and into his yard. We say the previous owner planted it there. My question is, can a bird of paradise spread under ground and sprout up and grow huge 2-3 feet behind, not beside it or attached to it?

Yes, Bird of Paradise can escape their planting areas by spreading rhizomes.
