split leaf philadendron

I have a beautiful older philadendron split leaf- new leaves will come out, but, shortly after leaf unfolds, stem becomes limp and dies… what am I doing wrong?

It sounds like it may have an infection. I would apply some dolomitic lime, and wettable sulfur according to the packages. This can help the plant fight the infection.

Remember to only water these when the top two inches of soil are dry. This will ensure that it does not remain water logged, and will keep away further infection.
