Sooty Looking Grass

Our lawn is greening up nicely for south Louisiana. We have cut twice already. There are several areas that the grass appears to be ‘burnt’. We can pull up the sprigs and the bottom is green, but the top looks as if it actually has been burned. The areas are spotty and about 12-15 feet in length. In our 5-acre lawn, there are approximately 10 areas like this. Please help. Is it bugs or fungus or what?
