Something Ate The Tops And Part Of The Stalks Of My Newly Planted Shasta Daisies. Was It An Animal Or A Pest?

After a day of planting beautiful full of buds Shasta daisies – the next morning something ate the buds and stems down halfway! We have ground hogs but have not seen a rabbit or deer. Wondering what did this and will they grow back and mostly how to protect!

Unfortunately, without photos and some sorts of clues as to what may have visited your plants, it will be very hard to say. It could be insects, or animal pests.
