Soil Problems

Soil very dry. Added new eucalyptus mulch to garden 7 months ago. I want and need healthy soil for my new native garden . Soil has ph of 6.

I would, first, remove the mulch. Eucalyptus tends to suppress plant growth, and will make things a little more difficult for your garden. After this, you will want to raise your pH, slightly, and check for any deficiencies. I would correct with compost, which would save you quite a bit of trouble. You will want to till this in. Once compost is added and incorporated, you will want to confirm that the pH is between 6.5 and 7. If not, you may need to add lime. Once you have all of these parameters corrected, then all it will take is water management.
