Soil Content For Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis In Outdoor Pot

I used about half mulch & half flower potting soil for planting a hibiscus rosa sinensis for an outdoor pot. I’m in zone 8. I’ve read you need to also fertilize it every couple of weeks. I read to keep it moist but not wet. Any other info, I should know? Thank you
