Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comOur smoke tree has several branches that are dead and one branch that is still alive. I also noticed on the main branches which are dead, the branches have slits in the bark that are pretty long and wide. Can I trim off the dead branches now and see if the one branch will survive? Thanks for any information you can give me.

The bark of a Smokebush is susceptible to breaking and damage.
Dead branches can be pruned away now, but regular pruning should take place in early spring or late winter.
