small potted gaultheria procumbens indoor plant

I received a small winterberry plant for Christmas and was doing really well it is not doing well now at all. I’m in Wisconsin I have been giving it whatever morning sun we get. I have mostly watered from the bottom of the plant. It is getting very thinned out dried leaves, dead stems. Trying to hang on to it but not sure its savable.
help please.
thank you, Janet

It is difficult to sustain gift evergreens indoors till planting time outside. They need cooler temperatures, proper lighting and watering. Make sure they are not near a heating vent which will dry it out in no time.

Water it from the top till it drains out the bottom and discard any remaining water. Let the soil dry out between waterings. It may not be getting enough water. Or by watering from the bottom, it may be sitting in water which can cause root rot. I would go ahead and repot in fresh potting soil. Fertilize with an acid fertilizer.

They like part shade to shade so I think the lighting is adequate. Try the above suggestions and hopefully it will make it to spring.
