Skinny mango tree trunk

Hello,
My mango tree is around a year and a half old,it’s a little over 5 feet tall and is growing new leaves regularly, but the trunk is very skinny. The trunk is about an inch in diameter at the bottom and gets thinner as it grows straight up with no branches, just a straight stock with leaves. Is this normal and will my tree trunk thicken?

This is very normal. That is actually quite thick for a mango that young! You can top them when they reach about half of the desired height. This will promote branching.
