Should I mulch my container grown ornamental grape

I have an ornamental grape in a half wine cask, growing well. I want to know if mulching is useful for this plant.

Yes, you can add a layer of mulch to help with moisture retention.

Do not make the layer to thick and do not mound it around the base of the plant.
