Should I Deadhead My Hydrangea?

Hello, my Hydrangea died due to poor weather earlier this year but has recently sprouted new leaves. Should I cut away the dead flowers, and if so, where should I cut? Thanks!

Prune above the first pair of leaves. If you think the leafless part of the stem may be alive but without leaves, consider cutting downwards from the end of the stem in small 1/2” increments until you get above the first pair of leaves or until you detect live wood in the stem.
