Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comHi, We have just made some borders with sleepers and are looking for a bit of help re weeks. Someone told me that if I fill them with topsoil, then put a weed control blanket down followed by sand this would help. We were then thinking of laying slate chips around the plants / shrubs. Does this work? Sand to help contol the weeds? Many thanks

I'd say a weed control blanket, and and pulling any instances of new weeds will be best. In some cases sand can help, but for some plants, it will be detrimental.
