Rotten Grass

Hello we put down Kentucky Bluegrass sod in our yard recently and after three weeks the sod that was laid in the shade is in bad shape. The grass looks rotten, the roots have not grown into the soil and there are ants underneath. We stopped watering the grass to stop more rotting. How can we save this grass?

If your sod dies before rooting, there is little to be done except replace the dead portions.
