Rooting a stem of jade

Someone gave a a stem of jade about 3 in in tall stick in a glass of water. It does have strings of roots in it about 1-2 in long. I am not sure if I should dry it or just put root grow on it and put in a small pot. Yes, I have lots of plants. Need guidance e as I have never Brown jade.
