root system on a small cassia tree?

planted three versions, one multi stalked, one single stalk and one single stalked that split in tow. Planted in south Florida while in bloom in the fall and slightly trimmed in spring on the city right of way in front of my house. if I cut the center stalk to keep it short and small when should I do this ..I was waiting for it to fill out. The stalks are now no more than 3 inches wide kinda of leggy tall..need to know if they will grow a wide and tough root system that will threaten the water lines ten feet away? Please reply asap. Thank you. Attached are the three types I planted.

There is no cut and dried answer to this question. You need to contact your local county extension service about how these might affect the water system there. The trees and their roots will grow according to weather, soil conditions, pruning, feeding, and other specific conditions. Here's a Florida article about cassia; it does not mention intrusive root problems: https://hort.ifas.ufl.edu/database/documents/pdf/tree_fact_sheets/casfisa.pdf [1]

Here's an article about how to prune them: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/cassia/cassia-tree-pruning.htm [2]
