replacing a tree

A white poplar tree has been removed from my garden. The trunk has been ground out. How soon can I plant an ornamental cherry in its place? Do I have to wait? Thanks.

As long as there was no disease in the last tree, you can plant again right away. If there was disease, then it is best to wait a year before planting.
