red magnolia

I planted a red magnolia tree this spring. It’s gone from its blooms. Flowers have fallen off, but now the leaves are turning yellow and falling off. Is this a normal cycle for this tree?

Leaves turn yellow and fall but this should happen in the fall.

Premature yellowing and leaf dropping could be environmental issues. Sudden cold or hot weather could cause this.
Mature trees don’t usually need watering if there is a dry spell but a younger tree may need some additional water.
Make sure the ground around the tree is well irrigated.
Check for any splits or damage in the tree bark.
You may need to have your soil tested. There could be a soil deficiencies.
