Red Blotches on Fig Tree Leaves

There are large red blotches on some of our fig tree leaves. It is a new plant that we planted in April this year. They can be seen from the under the leaf as well but not as clear. What is it?

It sounds like it is likely the onset of fig rust. Treat the plant with a fungicide. Rust is not normally fatal, but can make the tree look unsightly. I personally like to use neem oil as it is both a fungicide and a pesticide, plus it is safe for people and pets. Here is more information:
