Raised Garden Beds For The Fall

I live in Washington DC and I would like to start a raised vegetable garden, but we’re going into the second week of Sept.

1. I’d like to know if I can still grow squash, kale, lettuce and certain kinds of beans.

2. What are other vegetables that are right for this season and this region (Zone 7)?

3. Could I start them from plants to make up for the late start in the season?

Beans, kale, lettuce, carrots, radishes and any cole crops can be started now without a problem, but for cole crops, you will need to start with plants. Beans, carrots, radishes and lettuce can be started from seeds. Squash will have to wait till next year as they all need a whole season to do well.
