Rain Over Watered My Butterfly Bush

I have my butterfly bush in a big pot, it was doing great and then we got a lot of rain in a short time and by the time I got home from work 7 hours later it was wilted and there was standing water, I drained what I could out of the pot 2 or 3 times that day. I have it under my patio table and have a trash bag laying on the table above the plant so that it can still get air and some sun when its not behind the clouds…. Should I do anything diffrent?

Make sure you have well-draining soil in the container. If it isn't, add some perlite around the top and try to work a little into the soil. Also, the container should have ample drainage holes. If it doesn't, consider repotting.
