question about a crepe myrtle

My crepe myrtle is turning black. All the branches are black and has what looks like white fungus all over it. The leaves are turning black as well. Is there something I can do for it? I hate to lose this tree. Thanks.

It sounds like it may have sooty mold, which is a fungus that is a byproduct of a pest infestation. Treat the tree with neem oil. This is both a fungicide and a pesticide, so it will take care of the pests and the sooty mold in one go. Plus, it is organic and safe for people and pets.
