Pruning Crepe Myrtle Tree Too Tall

We have a crepe myrtle in front yard that is about 20 feet tall, way too tall, and not much blossom. How do I trim it down, and how much can I safely take off without killing the tree? Can I lop off 5-10 feet?

If your tree has become too large, then some light pruning may be in order. You can generally take up to a third off the tree without harming it, though blooming may be postponed.
