Pruning Crepe Myrtle

I had wanted to cut back/prune my crepe myrtles this spring but they haved already leafed out. Is it too late this season to cut them back?

I would not prune this late in the year, as you will lose blooms if you do. But if you don’t mind sacrificing the blooms, then go ahead.
