Ponytail palm sprout

Question

How do I remove a sprout from the stalk of a ponytail palm. The sprout is about one foot up from the base on the stalk.

You can leave it alone; it is not parasitic and will not affect the rest of the plant.

Or you can simply slice it off taking a thin layer of bark with it. It can then be discarded or you can place it on top of some constantly damp potting mix and it may develop a new set of roots.
