Planting tiger lilies

I was searching the web for the answer to my question but couldn’t get any. Recently I got a huge bouquet of flowers and in them were a bunch of tiger lilies. I was wondering if your could plant them by the stem? If they’ll grow like that or do I need the seeds? Thank you.

There are many species and varieties of Lilium and Hemerocallis that are called “Tiger lily,” but generally, you cannot propagate any of them using just a stem unless you have special lab equipment and conditions to do so. For us regular gardeners you’ll need to either have the bulb, the bulbils (tiny dark-colored chickpea-like forms growing up and down the main stem), or seeds to start a new lily plant.
