Planting Seeds in the Rain

What are the risks to the seed if it is sown in the rain? I don’t see the difference between planting right before it rains, or while it’s raining, since the rain will ‘water’ the seeds anyway.

It may depend on the type of soil that you have in your garden.

Heavy clay soils will likely hold to much moisture and the seeds may rot in the ground.
If your soil is light and loamy you may be able to place seeds in the soil.

Rain could wash away your efforts though and dislodge the seeds.
