Planting Saskatoon Bushes

Wondering if planting saskatoon bushes with lawn edging to make a 2 to 3 foot diameter around each bush is a good idea, or is it better to just plant them so the top roots are “free”?

Since they can spread, I would favor leaving off the edging.
