They are low feeders, and you will want to fertilize them in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer of your choice. Apply a layer of organic mulch to retain moisture and feed once a year for optimal growth. Over-fertilization can be harmful, so follow package instructions and adjust based on the specific needs of your soil and the tree's growth.
This tree is carefree for the most part. Pruning and control of its invasive root structure will be more of a concern.
