pests/caterpillars

Something is eating tomato plant leaves and also my lavender and mint. The leaves look like lace, they are so badly eaten. I have seen two very small green caterpillars near the mint but not near the tomato plant. I have seen white butterflies large and small. Something has now started on my basil.

There could certainly be more than one insect that is dining on your plants.
Neem Oil is a good treatment for most insects and it also works as a fungicide. It is safe for people, pets and bees.
Here is several links for you that may help with identifying the insects.
