Pest Identification and Control

Something is chewing the leaves off my recently purchased and potted Japanese Maple trees, but I cannot see anything. What could it be?

Are the whole leaves disappearing, falling off or are their holes in the leaves? If there are holes, are they on the edges or in the center? Please let us know. This will help us identify your pest.
