Persian shield

Why does my Persian Shield wilt in the sun /afternoon. The tag that came with the plant read it needed 3-6 hours of sun. But it wilts with that much sun.

Since you are in the southern region you should try for morning sun and afternoon shade.
Container plants will need daily water, even twice a day if temperatures are above 80 degrees F.
