Peppers and Cukes

My peppers have yellow in the leaves and the ends curl up. I used a soapy insecticide, thinking it was white flies. My cukes are curly too, no bugs on them now. I have all these in a good container with good mixture of soil sand and Mircale Gro. Can you tell me what the problem is? I live in Massachusetts. And it seems the ground is colder longer this year than years in the past. Can you help?

If this is not an issue with pests, I would guess that it’s due to a viral infection of some sort, like Verticillium or Curly-top.
