pepper plants dropping their leaves

All my green pepper plants suddenly, within 3-4 days, dropped all of their leaves. I don’t see any pests, have drip watering system, and they are in containers (5-gal buckets). I do live where it is HOT but water twice a day, sometimes more.

In order to know what happened, you’ll need to be a detective. Questions to ask — did the leaves turn yellow or black, or curl, or get spots of any kind before they fell? Are the roots healthy — if you dig around them, are there maggots in them, or is the soil too wet (muddy and soggy), or are there bugs hiding in the soil? Here’s an article where you can read more about common diseases and pests of peppers: [1]
