Palm leaves damage

While walking jungle paths daily in the Yucatan Peninsula, I run into varios patterns of damage to common palm trees. The damage is done wirh great precision, maintaing exact radius fro the center anf following the same cut on an entire leaf.

I would like to know what is causing this amazing process.

This is a very interesting question, but I am stumped! Leafcutter bees, leafcutter ants, and others can cut leaves in regular patterns, and some birds use palm leaves in nests, but I can’t find any that look like the cuts on these leaves. Perhaps a human cut the leaves to make a craft project?
