Orchids

How can I take care of an orchid flower that has broken off the plant? Can the stem of the flowering plant be placed into the soil of the existing plant and survive and grow? Or can I place it into a pot of water so new roots will grow and then place it into a pot of soil? Any help you can give is greatly appreciated, as I hate seeing my flowering plant with 5 or more blooms just die.

Thanking you in advance for any help you can supply to me.

You cannot propagate the broken off flower stem of an Orchid.
You can place the stem in clean water and enjoy it as a cut flower for awhile.

Your Orchid plant will be fine as long as the roots were not injured and in time you should have flowers again.
