Orchid Developed Baby Leaf on Stem After Blooming

What should I do with this baby leaf? Should I cut the stem at soil level and plant the baby leaf that is on the stem? I was thrilled that I could get a regular old store bought orchid (purple color, don’t know species name) to rebloom. Also, the bottom leaves have fallen off.   I’ve been spraying w/water daily and keeping growing medium damp. It is on the shelf behind the kitchen sink and gets heat from the exhaust of the microwave.

This is called a keiki and you can use it to propagate your orchid. This article has directions on how to remove it:
