Orange Not Thriving

Re planted some organic seed from a orange. but tree has not grown more than 5″. what am I doing wrong. I’m in a zone 9a (Houston.Tx). Replanted in a 1 gallon pot a few months ago.

Make sure you have the young seedlings planted in a good quality potting mix. If you use garden soil, it becomes like concrete in the pot and the roots will not grow and can smother the roots.
To speed up the growth you can add a balanced fertilizer every 2 weeks. Cut back when the seedling has grown into a small tree.
