Newly planted Dynamite Crape Myrtle did not bloom

Morning – our newly planted crape myrtle was planted by our house that was built this year. The house was built on construction sand which is meant to compact. There was not any topsoil added to the lot. The landscapers just dug holes and planted. We have added good soil around plants but did not see any blooms on crape myrtle.

Give it more time and better growing conditions. It may start to bloom in the next year or two.

You can gradually improve the soil with compost and mineralized fertilizer amendments.
