New Pomegranate Tree

I planted a pomegranate tree this winter and I not sure if it survived the winter. It has no leaves yet. How can I tell if this tree is alive and a late leaving tree or did not survive the stress of the winter and planting. It get full sun has been well watered and I live in zone 7a.

I am not seeing leave buds or new grow shoots. I am also not familiar with growing this type of tree.

You can test the branches by bending them. If they snap off, the branch has died.

You can also to a scratch test on the bark.

Did you grow a variety that is hardy in zone 7? There are a few, but in general most varieties are hardy zones 8-10.

Keep in mind that most reputable garden centers will guarantee a new tree planting for 1 year.
