my wisteria’s leaves are yellow and tips are turning brown

Hi. I bought an 8 ft wisteria this spring and planted it on a south facing wall of my house. The ground is clay, so I dug a 2 ft x 2 ft x 2 ft hole and filled it with rotted horse/shavings manure. It hasn’t grown at all, and the leaves are now turning more yellow and are showing signs of dying, and some have brown blotches on them.

It sounds like it needs some water. While this is a really hardy plant, for the first year it is planted, it will need watering just to get established. Try watering once a week for the remainder of the summer. It should be established by then and next year, it will not need watering except in times of drought.
