My purple trailing Lantana has a bunch of deadwood underneath

The trailing lantana has a bunch of deadwood underneath but at the ends there may be some scraggly living tips.. Can I vigorously cut back the purple trailing lantana to promote new growth? It’s a mess right now.

I am in zone 8
