My Plum Tree Has No Leaves This Year Though It Has Leaf Buds And I Can See The Sap Has Risen

Hi Help please! The attached photos show the sorry state of the poor thing. The close ups show sap that has solidified in the sun. Is it completely dead, has it a disease or is it worth waiting and hoping for next year? Regards Glenys

It is likely getting too much water outdoors. Removing that tray will help. That way extra water will be allowed to leave the container.

Be sure that the plum that you are trying to grow does not require more "chill hours" than your area can provide. You are going to be the equivalent of our USDA zone 9, so try and find plum cultivars that will do well in climates that do not receive enough cold weather to support plum growth.
