My Fig Tree Leaves Are Turning Yellow and Falling Off

The leaves are turning yellow and there is a white substance on them like a fungus or mold. I just got the plant and I am getting ready to put it in the ground, but I don’t want the disease to spread to other plants in my garden. What is this?

It sounds like powdery mildew. It won’t kill them plant but is unsightly and does reduce fruit production. Here is more information:
